Legend of the Fall are 5 brothers from New Jersey, JD (Lead & Rhythm Guitar, Vocals), Skyler (Drums, Vocals), Levi (Keyboard, Vocals), Madison (Bass, Vocals),
and CaseyJones (Lead & Rhythm Guitar, Vocals. Their debut demo is available at Shockhound now! I had a chance to chat with Levi about how they band started and where they’re headed.
Tell me about how you formed Legend of the Fall with your brothers.
Levi: Well, it all started with my Dad and his brothers. They had a band when they were a little bit younger and because of that it was passed down to us brothers to carry on the legacy if you will. We always talked about being in a band, but we didn’t have a name and we hadn’t played. One day, JD, the oldest brother, he was at prom and he kinda stole the show. He stole the mic from the DJ and started singing ‘Pour Some Sugar On Me’ by Def Leppard. A girl at prom said, “Hey, you sound really good. Do you have a band or anything like that?” He was like, “Yeah! We have a band.” We had never played a day in our life. She asked if we would play a show for her and he said, “Sure. We’ll play a show.” So, JD came home and said we had a show and we didn’t know what that meant at that point because we weren’t a band yet. Basically, we started practicing because of that and that show ended up getting cancelled. That was good because we started playing and writing music and getting better. That’s basically how we formed.
How did you come about your band name? It’s interesting.
Levi: We had a lot of band names and we were all sitting at the table and we all threw out ideas. The, I don’t even know who it was, shouted out ‘Legend of the Fall.’ We thought that was cool and we put a bunch of the names in the hat and we prayed, then wer shook it and picked up one of the names out of the hat and that was the name. We made up the meaning later, but that’s how we got the name. (The meaning of Legend of the Fall: In Timothy 4:4, the Bible states “They will turn their ears away from the truth and turn aside to myths..” Soif the people of the world doturn to myths and legends, won’t they thenthink the truth is thelegend. They would refer to the truth as thelegend of the creation, legend of the prophets, and the LEGEND OF THEFALL!”)
That’s cool! Can you describe your sound?
Levi: Describe it…hmmm…pop-core, exciting and epic I guess you could say.
What are your musical influences?
Levi: We have a wide range of music we like. It’s all over the playce. We like Panic at the Disco!, Fall Out Boy, Bless the Fall, Devil Wears Prada, Underoath, A Day to Remember, All Time Low. That’s basically our influences in a nutshell.
What are you listening to?
Levi: I love Panic at the Disco! I listen to The Beatles a lot. I like Bob Marley too and Jason Mraz. Switchfoot. All American Rejects and all that type of stuff.
You have a demo available at Shockhound. What else is going on with you guys?
Levi: As of now we’re going to release the Sketches: Part 2 demo digitally. We don’t have a set date. We’re trying to work on that and talk to some people about recording and producing and getting a professionally produced demo. There’s nothing set in stone, but that’s where we’re at right now.
I wish you lots of luck and success!
